StepTwin Bike: first bionic folding bike
The developers of this bike call it the “first bionic folding bike”. I can't be sure if this system increases or improves the physical capacity of a cyclist, but it does present itself as a better alternative to the bicycles we find in our daily lives.
It has a fairly basic operation: you just have to step down with either foot. A lever, independently attached to each pedal, transfers power to the chain that drives the rear wheel.
It has drive units on both sides, and you can pedal hard in any combination or at different cadences. It's all accomplished thanks to a special rear hub, with independent freewheels, a replaceable rail cog on each, and multi-arm cranks.
It has five speeds that are varied by a gear lever that alters the ratio of the crank lever and can be adjusted on both sides separately. That is, you can pedal in a softer gear on one leg and harder on the other. This is quite interesting for people who are rehabbing from an injury and can't perform the same force.
With or without saddle
StepTwin Bike has the option of wearing a saddle or not. Also, being a folding bike, both the seat post and the handlebars are easily adjustable. Its size is unique, available for people who measure between 1'30 m and 2'10 m. It reaches speeds of up to 30 km/h and its price is around 230 euros.
