It's hard not to love the chain formerly known as Dunkin' Donuts, now officially Dunkin'. Many of their coffees are rated better than Starbucks, and their prices are often cheaper as well. However, not everyone knows the secrets that the company tries to hide from its customers.
At Dunkin' you can choose from wraps and sandwiches, bagels and muffins and, of course, plenty of donuts. However, Dunkin' staff (and its executives) would surely prefer you not to know certain things that would cause a rethink of the company's image. However, some former employees have revealed some of the questionable things that go on in the shops and cafes.
Dunkin' Hidden Secrets
The donut chain hides some bad habits for sustainability. We will also realize that there is a wide range of possibilities, which seemed not to exist until now.
- Donuts are not baked in cafeterias. Dunkin' may have you believe that their donuts are super fresh, but they're not really baked in the stores. Dunkin's donuts are delivered to the store via truck at XNUMXam (depending on location), every morning.
- Stores throw away a lot of food. According to another video posted by a former employee, at the end of the day, a Dunkin store throws away a large amount of perfectly edible food. What's worse, company policy supposedly prohibits donating food to the homeless. In Spain, the company uses Too Good To Go to fight food waste and continue to earn some money. Normally they are around €3 and the surprise package brings up to 99 donuts from that same day.
- The coffee is thrown away 18 minutes later. While the intent here is to provide customers with only the freshest coffee, the fact that Dunkin' employees are forced to throw away unsold coffee after just 18 minutes is a terrible example of waste. But, this is the official policy of the company.
- A muffin has more calories than a Big Mac.. A cupcake might be delicious, but it's really not worth the brief treat your taste buds will reap. The Coffee Cake Muffin has about 590 calories, 24 grams of fat, and 370 milligrams of sodium. Muffins are one of the worst items to eat. That's 10 calories more than two glazed donuts.
- All menus are customizable. Although the employees are made to beg or are not for the job, all Dunkin' drinks and sandwiches can be modified according to our preferences.
